Edmond Rostand’s now play “ Chanticler ” has been produced in Paris before a brilliant audience. Tho production, including 150 marvellous costumes of cocks, hens, pheasants, blackbirds, owls, etc., cost £28,000. The piece is a fantastic satire on human follies in language of lyrical fervour and verve. It created a deep impression, despite its eccentric sotting. M. Guitry, Madame Simone, Jean Ccquolm, and Mr Sidney, an Australian actor (who appeared as a gamecook), achieved great successes. AN UNFINISHED COMEDY. LONDON, February 8. Mr Charles Frohman, the theatrical manager, is about to produce the late George Meredith’s unfinished comedy, “ The Sentimentalists.”
