In asking ' for bail be said ha noticed that a somewhat unusual course; had been followed in respect to the case. The accused had been arrested on warrant. A number of other men had been summoned to appear at : the Court _on Friday to answer charges of a;similar nature, but had not been subjected to arrest. , „ . , His Worship challenged counsel s right to address the Court on the question of why the accused was arrested. The question he was concerned with was one of bail. ; Mr Jackson replied that ho hoped the bail would he reasonable. The date of hearing was fixed for Friday, and accused was admitted to hail in the sum of .£BO and two sureties of £■lo each.
