The National Geographical Society of tho United States, acting upon a report from its Finance and Research Committee, has accepted Commander Peary’s proposal on behalf of the Arctic Club of America for a new Antarctic expedition..

The Arctic Club will contribute tlie steamship Roosevelt, which Peary used on his recent successful expedition to the North Polo; the society will grant 50,0011 dollars towards the cost of the expedition; and both institutions will share the balance of the expenses. Commander Peary has suggested that the expedition should reach the coast of tlie Antarctic Continent in Alaryh of 1911 at a point, directly opposite to the base to he established .by Captain Scott’s party. The American and British camps would be some 2000 miles apart. It is calculated that the South Pole should be reached by the Americans at the end of December. ,

A campaign to raise the necessary funds' for the expedition will be started immediately.
