SOCIAL AND PERSONAL NOTES

Miss S. Rogers has been appointed organist at the Church of the Nativity, Blenheim, as from from February Ist. Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Plunket attended the Amateur Athletic Association Sports in the Basm Reserve on Saturday. Aifter having tea in the pavilion they w'itiiessed some of the events and-then departed. Her Excellency was wearing a gown of biscuitcoloured voile, with a vest of cream lace. Her hat was of pale green satin straw. ' Two .weddings have been celebrated in town this week, says our Blenheim correspondent, tho contracting, parties to one on Monday being Mr Ivan Wintringham, son of Mr C. Wintringham, of Masterton, and Mies'Annio Morrison, daughter of the lato Captain Morrison, Blenheim. The Rev. Father Holley, assisted by Father O'Sullivan, performed the ceremony which took place in St. Mary's Church, tho service being fully choral. Tho other wedding took place on Friday, also at St. Mary's Church, Father Holley again officiating, when Mr Henry Steer o .was united in matrimony with Miss Emmie Gosling, eldest daughter of Mr W. Gosling, Manse road. There wa6 a large gathering of the fair sex at the Star sheds on Saturday. The gentlemen dispensed afternoon tea in tho clubroom, the tables being artistically arranged with coreopsis and grasses in tall vases. Great enthusiasm was displayed as each event was swum off, and it" was a beautiful sight to see some of the stalwart youths of Wellington clad in stockinette and brown as a berry. One man entered the water with curly hair, tho delight of one fair onlooker, who immediately hoped for Ins success, but, alas, when he emerged her dreams were shattered, his curly hair was as straight as the proverbial poker. Boatloads of girls were seen on the harbour, and the efforts of more than one girl who tried to row were watched with interest, and reallv they acquitted them-, selves well. White was the predominating note in tho frocking. though here and there the eye caught a pink, blue or brown dress. One particularly smart frock was of emerald green linen, with a white vest and a dainty embroidered collar, but as space was very limited one had to bo content with a very fleeting glimpse of any of the frocks. ■B T id a \ Debutante Presentation Hand Bouquets in nil newest styles.
