SWIMMING

At To Aro Baths last evening the ladies' branch of the Swifts Club lield a 40yds race for novices, seven starters coming forward. Result —Miss H. Murrell (2scc), 1; Mias E. Wilton (scr), 2; Miss P. Hicks (Ssec), 3, Also started—Misses M. Flux (7sec), M. Moyes (6sec), D. M. Goad (3seo), N. Murrell (scr). Time, 41scc. Hr T. Shields gives the following list of boys and girls who qualified yesterday afternoon for certificates for the distances given:—Girls: Minna Bell / and Jessie Ward, 1800 yards; Mabel McCabe, ,1250 yards; Elsie Turner and Jean Turner, 440 yards. Boys: J. Tandy, J. Burns, D- Corrigan and C. Corrigan, 440 yards. Mr Shields will bo at To Aro Baths to conduct swims for proficiency certificates, and to teach swimming, every Wednesday afternoon for - the remainder of the season.
