News has been received of tho wreck of tho steamer Czarina, 1040 tons, belonging to *tho Southern Pacific Company of San Francisco, at Cook's Inlet, Alaska. The crew clambered into the rigging, but were swept out, thirty men being drowned. The disaster was witnessed by about one hundred spectators on shore, who -were powerless to render assistance. The Czarina was an iron ecraw steamer, built in 1883 by J.- Blumer and Co., of Sunderland. Her length was 220 ft 3in, breadth 31ft 6in, depth 13ft 3in. Manawatu, ,an iron vessel of 183 tons, was built by H. Nicol, of Auckland, in 1873, and was formerly well kn6wn in tho New Zealand coastal trade. She now belongs to the Coastal S.S. Company, of Melbourne. She was 128 ft Bin long, 18ft 7in wide, and 9ft sin deep.
