WOOL FREIGHTS

A reduction of the freight rates for wool from New Zealand .to London, las been decided upon by the Now Zealand Shipping Company, Federal-Houlder-Shire, Tyser, and ShUw, Savill and Albion lines. The rates originally fixed (at the commencement of the season) were seven-sixteenths of a penny per pound for greasy -wool, and five-eighths for scoured. These rates have now been reduced to three-eighths of a penny for greasy wool, and a half-penny for scoured. Upon -what .precise date, or with what stomer tho mew rates will first take effect, is not yet definitely known. Of the vessels now loading round the coast some may take shipments at the reduced figures, but the circumstances of shipment will determine the rate for tho majority of these vessels. It will not be. long, however, before the reduced rates come into general effect.
