The German Navy League, in a New Year manifesto, appeals to the people of Germany not to be diverted from naval expansion by any consideration whatever. It makes special reference to recent speeches by an English statesman and Admiral, directed against Germany, and, adverting to tho rumours of reconciliation and agreement on the subject of armaments, terms them a soothing syren song intended to allure German steersmen from their course. The manifesto declares it is the duty of every patriot to suppress ail endeavours that foreign countries could interpret as weakness.
