Celaeno was selected favourite for the Maiden, but after fretting well away 'Mr filly canned on the running for five furlongs, when Sir Soto came with a well sustained run and worn nicely b.v a length, Pukowai close Tip third. Moondine was left at the. post, and took no part in the race. W. Garrett has Sir Solo well forward, and it should soon bo heard of again. Pen do Joio was favourite for the flack Hurdles. After a good start Himi-t.-.iv-i, Maku, and Erl King were prominent for a mile. The favourite then went to the front and won very easily by about three lengths, a length between. •wonil and third. Feu de Joie will have to move on to open company, having won the allotted money in-hack events. A field of nine faced the starter in the Grandstand Hack Handicap. After some delay at the post, caused through the fractiousness of Sublime, the field got away in line with the exception of Marathon, who lost several lengths. No 'Trumps carried on the running, with the placed horses handy, and when a few yards from the post Te Puia camo with a rattle and won by a neck, with No Trumps a similar distance away.

When the numbers wero hoisted for the Woodvillo Handicap it was-found •that Bourraeque and Iney were not starting. Vasa delayed the field for some minntce. Eventually they were despatched to a good start. Matoari at onco forged-; ahead, .closely followed by Bridge,
