The Council of Churches passed the following resolution:—"That this meeting of the Wanganui Council of Churches, having considered the telegram from the Kight Hon. the Premier in reply to resolutions passed in the local churches relative to canteens foi the supply of intoxiacting liquors in military' gatherings, pledges itself t<i oppose in exerw constitutional mannei compulsory military training if liquor u to be supplied or sold in the encampments." DCNEDIX, December 7. The Dune-din Presbytery, on tho motion of the Ilov. Mr Scorgie, unanimously entered an emphatic protest against tho Government's proposal _to open canteens in connection with military camps for the compulsory training of the youth of the Dominion.
