The hearing of tho oaao against tho strike leaders, charged with the oommission of acts amounting to conspiracy on November sth, was resumed to-day at Now-oastlo. Tho Crown desired to have the cases sont on to Sydney for. hearais, but tho Magistrate .refused tho request, and granted a remand till Monday, A VICTORIAN GRIEVANCE MINERS SEND PETITION TO A JUDGE. SYDNEY, December 7. Three hundred .miners in Victoria sent a petition over to Mr Justice Isaacs, Deputy-President of the Federal Arbitration Court, in which they stated that they had a dispute with their employers, and were also in sympathy'/with the Newcastle, strikers, and were prepared to strike if their | united grievances were not at once submitted to the Federal Arbitration | Court. [ Mr Justice Isaacs replied that under the circumstances disclosed the law does not authorise or contemplate his intervention.

On a motion being proposed for the adjournment to-day, Jjabour members of tho Senate urged that the Federal Government should interpose in tile Newcastle strike, troubles. The Hon. E. D. SYDNEY, December 7. A number of prominent citizens favour the Government temporarily resuming work in certain mines. The railway supplies of coal will last till Christmas. The gas companies have three weeks' supply. Besides arresting the five strike leaders, the authorities obtained leave to prosecute fifteen miners' delegates in the Northern district under the Industrial Disputes Act. The coal lumpers at a meeting reaffirmed their decision not. to work the P. and 0. steamer Palermo's coal.
