The monthly meeting of the Wairajrapa So Ah County Council was held on Saturday, Councillor W. Perry presiding. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £420 7s 3d, receipts since last meeting having been £1253 X4s 9d. Accounts amounting to £365 7s 2d were passed for payment. The engineer reported that the cost of the culvert recently put in near Carrington House had been £BS Is. Dr Smyth reported two cases of diphtheria and one of scarlet fever in the county, and Dr Johnston a case of diphtheria. The annual grant of £ls was passed for payment to the Carterton library. Tho application of th© Wellington Farmers’ Moat Company for council’s consent to tho erection of works at Waingawa, near the Masterton abattoirs, was granted. A committee was set up to confer with a committee from tho Borough Council in connection with the proposed abattoirs for Carterton and district. It was decided to attach the seal of council to the transfer of lease of the Gladstone Hotel from J. T. Constable to C. G. White. G. Lett’s ■ tender at 3s 6d per yard was accepted for the Flat Point road metalling contract, and the tender of Johnson Bros, at £lB4 for tho Admiral road deviation. The engineer’s report was adopted.
