A COMPLAINT
(To the Editor, ”N.Z. Times.”) Sir, —That tho practice of keeping poultry in thickly-populated localities is attended with great danger to health is so well recognised that most cities have passed by-laws to prohibit it. This is the most congested city in New Zealand, yet the keeping of fowls seems to be freely allowed. I live in the Thorndon district, and every morning one is made aware of the proximity of fowls by their noisy cackling. At meal times, one’s rooms become invaded by swarms of flies that leave tho savoury fowl-yard for the change of diet offered by the dinner table. May I appeal through your valuable journal for the institution of some law to make such foul practices punishable? , Or, if this is asking too much, could not the owners of the poultry he' made to oat them before the coming of the hot months? —I am, etc., “HAWK.” Wellington November Ist.
