KING’S BIRTHDAY.
(To the Editor ** N.Z. Times”) Si r ,—Allow me, through the medium of vour valuable paper, to suggest that the* above holiday bo observed on Mondav, November Bth, instead of on the day it happens to fall, viz., luesaay. 1 cannot understand why the people of Wellington have remained so reticent in connection with this and other holidays Why not follow the example of Australia H There, if a holiday falls on Tuesday or Wednesday, W is kept up on the Monday preceding; should Ihursday, l-'riday, or Saturday he a holiday, the observance is allotted to the subsequent Monday. .. . , That this is the most satisfactory method to all concerned is too apparent to require any elucidation. It would be a boon to employer and employee. 1 will therefore content myself with the mere suggestion, leaving, it to the common sens© of Wellingtonians to coneummate the matter.-I ™.^>UBLICO- - October 27th.
