SATURDAY’S MATCHES. PENNANT COMPETITION. The ideal weather which prevailed on SaturdaV was responsible for attracting large crowds of players and spectators to the various greens, and a most enjoyable afternoon -was spent. Ihe greens are rapidly improving and playing much faster than they did when the bowls were first produced this season. PENNANT MATCHES. In addition to the usual ordinary games the first round of the senior pennant matches were played. , THOKNDON v. PETONE. At Thorndon.
VICTORIA CLUB. , A match was played on the Victoria green for the "Wells Stars.” Tucker and Hatch (s), 21. beat the. challengers, Townsend and Redstone (s), 26.
NEWTOWN CLUB. A match was played for the Flyger Badges, n'nd resulted as follow:—Castle, S. Phillips, Topp, Williams. 30; Watt. Flyger, Pauling. Crewes, 19. Next Saturday will he a special ladies’ day, when there will be a contest between, those above 50 and those under that age. A large number of entries are already in. and an interesting afternoon is anticipated.
