A SHIPWRIGHT'S SUICIDE

CLAIMED TO BE A BROTHER OP MELBA. Henry Mitchell, a shipwright, who occupied a furnished room at 182, Sydney street, committed suicide on Friday. He opened a large vein in the right leg with a packet knife, extending tho incision with a razor. Dr James, who was called, found deceased had bled to death. The two implements named were in close proximityto the body. Dr McArthur, S.M., City Coroner, held an inquest on Saturday afternoon. It was shown that deceased had been drinking lately, but therp was nothing that would lead to a supposition that he contemplated self-destruction. There was work for him to do at his trade hut he had done none for a week. H|y was described as a quiet . man and had stated that ho was a. brother of Madame Melba, the famous singer. The Coroner found that deceased had died from hemorrhage, the result of a wound self-inflicted.
