EXPLORERS' FIGHT IN PAPUA

In'connection with the murder of Herr Dammkohler while prospecting for gold in German New Guinea it is now learned that he and his companion, Oldorp, had penetrated two hundred miles up the Markham river, when, running short of stores, they dispatched native carriers for fresh supplies. While tho carriers were away the white men were attacked. Oldorp put up a desperate fight after his companion was killed, and was wounded. After suffering great hardships, with the assistance of a raft, he managed to make his way down the river to tho settlement of Finchavea.
