Mrs Stone-AVigg, of AVairarapa, who lias been spending some weeks m AVellington, has.returned home.
Miss Tarleton (Sydney') arrived from Christchurch yesterday morning, and is staying at the Grand Hotel.
Mr and Mrs Donald, of Masterton, who have been touring the South Island, return home by to-day’s train.
Mr and Mrs AVatson-Shannon, of Dunedin, arrived by the Lyttelton boat yesterday, and are staying at the Grand Hotel.
A philanthropic Wellington lady invites any kindly-disposed persons who may bo hi possession of Edison phonograpii records for which they have no uso to semi them to her for transmission to the lepers on Quail Island. They may bo left at the “Tunes” office.
In order to avert a collision with a hansom in Boulcott terrace on Saturday, the chauffeur was forced, to run Dr Findlay’s motor-car into the kerb, with the result that Mrs Findlay, who was the only other occupant of the car, sustained a slight accident to her hand and general shock. She is now very much better.
A movement is afoot to establish an International Club in AVellington. Already numbers of ladies and gentlemen have signified their intention of joining, end a satisfactory membership is assured. The first committee meeting (provisional) has been called. Dr and Mrs Borghetti arc among _ those interesting themselves in the institution.
- At Hastwell last'week the marriage was celebrated of Miss Rose Reehal, second daughter of Mr and Mrs C. Reehal, of Hastwell, to Mr Joseph Corbishy. The bride was attended by her sister. Miss N. Reehal, as bridesmaid, and Mr C. Gavin acted as.best man. Mr and Mrs Corbishy are spending their honeymoon at Auckland and Rotorua.
By reason of having met with a painful accident to her knee on Saturday evening, Mrs J. P. Firth will, unfortunately, not bo able to carry out the secretarial duties of the St. John Ambulance bazaar. Miss Nathan, who has assisted all along, will take Mlw Firth’s place. All stall-holders and assistants are requested to be in their places at 2.15 this afternoon.
Prominent among the many potent charitable institutions in Wellington is the St. John Ambulance Nursing Guild, whose unostentatious care of the sick poor is such an essentially hiimaae mission. To-day and every day during this week citizens will be given the opportunity to show sympathy with the object of the guild by attending the Fair at the Town Hall which has been organised to assist the funds. The Fair will be opened by her Excellency Lady Plunket at 3 o’clock this afternoon. Numerous attractions are advertised, and the scale of the affair may bo ganged from the fact that there are close upon 200 helpers.
