A general election in January is not improbable, and this may mean a struggle between capital and labour of unprecedented severity. Tho natural result will bo disorganisation of 'trade audi accentuation of tho unemployed difficulty. The consumptive power being thereby weakened wool will bo one of the first commodities to feel the illeffects; and while Great Britain is not our only market, the result ot a weakenin" in the Home demand will have a far-reaching effect on wool values. The obvious lesson to bo taken from tins position is that wool should be marketed as earlv as possible, and therely secure the good nrices which must rii.'a when stocks are iow and manufacturers must have wool- '_
The outlook is considered so problematical that some of the leading speculators on the Now Zealand market are not buying a pound of wool, and are offering" all tho wool they have on hand in the first local sale. Even, however, should there, bo no general election, and the consumptive demand in Britain be such that business rill proceed on a normal basis the record output of wool which will require to bo financed can hardly fail to have an effect on values after tho first of the new clip has been marketed. Everything points to tho fact that the grower who markets his wool locally and as rapidlv as possible will have the best returns 'to show for this season s clip.
