Merriman, the Premier, announced that ho was asking Lord Crewe, Secretary of State for the Colonies, to publish the deliberations of the Imperial Defence Conference. He added that ho and the Transvaal representative strongly opposed "wretched tin-pot navies," and he hoped that in future the British naval programme would be discussed in the Colonial Parliaments beforehand.
