FIIOM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENTS. LOWER VALLEY. September !!•_ Last night the new, pipe organ m St Mark’s Church was formally opened! when Dr Fyffe, of St. Peters, AVcllington, gave a recital. IRC church was packed to the doors. The annual horse parade of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society was held hero this afternoon, when the entries and the attendance of the public were good. Some fine horses were shown. At Morison’s Bush on Mr T. Kenipton’s farm can ho scon four ewes with no less than twelve lambs at foot. Among them is a jet black, a brown and white, and one spotted like a leopard. Sheep-worrying by dogs is stated to be prevalent in the South Fcatlierston district. A couple of fanners in the district have found it necessary to give notice of their intention to lay poison on their properties to trap the useless canines that are causing the annoyance. A gun club has been formed in Martinborough, which is to bo affiliated to the New Zealand Gun Club Association. The officers are: —Patron, Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P.; president, Mr W J. Martin; vice-presidents, Messrs E' G. Harris, Wall, Brewer, Gawith, Mackay, and Priest; treasurer. Mr 0. Benton; joint-secretaries, Messrs Price and Byrne; committee, Messrs Harris, Kilminster, .and Maguire. The committee of the Martinhorough Bowling Club have decided to purI chase a section for a green, offered to them by Mr Sharp, and that the land ho vested in four trustees. It has further decided to recommend that the motion ro issuing debentures be rescinded, and instead the club get a bank overdraft of £3OO, and not to exceed £IOO, on the personal guarantee of four gentlemen, and that al! assets be vested in these gentlemen as trustees. A conference will he held shortly by the directors of the Masterton and Manriceville Dairy Companies to discuss the question of amalgamation. The directors of the Masterton Company will meet on Wednesday to fi> a date for the conference. Mr J. C. Cooper has been elector! managing director of the newly-formed Wellington Farmers’ Co-operativ< Freezing Company. The question c.i securing a site on which to erect the works was discussed, and it was dc cided to inspect the various sites imdei offer at once, with a view to obtaining one-
