THE NEWCASTLE TRAGEDY
MRS STREIT CHARGED WITH MURDER.

In connection with the death of the man Healey, found dead in a house at Wickham, near Newcastle, .last week, letters from Mrs Streit (who was discovered in the house with the corpse, her nerve having failed her when she tried to shoot herself as she had intended) to Mrs Healey were read at the inquest. In those she stated she had loved deceased and was jealous of another woman with whom he was on friendly terms. She added that she had told Healey she was heart-broken and intended to kill herself. He asked her to let him die with her. The last letter was written on the day of tho tragedy, and stated that this woman was to blame for all the trouble and the death of herself and Healey. Mrs Streit was present at the inquest, in custody, and was afterwards charged with murdering Healey. <
