At tho Supreme Court to-day Edward; McKenzio and Louisa McKenzio wore con~ victed on a charge of committing incest 'at Mosgiel, tho jury making a strong recommendation to morcy, cspecially_in.!, the case of the female ■ accused. The male accused was sentenced; to six months' imprisonment, and tho female aocused was ordered to enter into a recognisance of .£2O to come up for sentence when called upon. John Stephen Tooniey was charged with discharging a rifle at his stepfather, Daniel McCurdy, with intent to maim disfigure, disable and do grievous bodily harm to him. The jurv returned a verdict of not guilty, adding, "We opinion that the shot was fired under., great provocation and in self-defence." John Goodwillie, brought up for sentence on a charge of housebreaking and entering with intent to commit a orim<* in the Invoroargill district, was sentenced to six months!" imprisonment. This concluded the criminal business
