ADDINGTON. PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, December 29. At the Addington yards to-day, there was a small entry of stock and a small attendance of buyers. Fat cattle showed a further decline in values. Store sheep sold at lata rates. Fat lambs were easier. Fat sheep opened well, but prices fell back to last week’s level. Pigs were dull of sale, except wsanora, which were in good demand. , _ . Store sheep.—All lots changed, hands. A lino of six and eight-tooth ewes and lambs made 12s, all counted; 350 halfbred wethers sold at 12s 6d; several small lots of GVo-tooth halfbred wethers brought Ha to 13s 6d; a few crossbred owes in the wool, of mixed ages, made 11s 9d. There was a email entry of fat lambs, and ’butebprs were the only buyers. Prices were Is to Is 6d per head below the previous week’s rates. Prime lamb made 14s 6d to 16s, a few extra to 17s 9d, and lighter lls 7d to 14s. There was also a short yarding of fat sheep.—The market opened well, .but as butchers required only small suppllea. prices afterwards declined. Best wethers made 15s 6d to 18s Id, lighter 14s to 15a, best ewes 14s to 15s 9d, a lew extra 17s 10d, others lia to 13s 6d. Only 161 head of fat cattle were penned, a largo proportion of which were of good to prime quality. There vras a dull sale, •tuid pdices showed a further decline. Steers made £6 10s to £lO 10s, heifers £5 10s to £8 7s 6d, cows £5 to £7 15s—equal to 21s to 22s 6d for prime, 18s to 20s 6d for medium, and 17s to 17s 6d for cow and inferior, per TUQIb, The yarding of store cattle was a small one, and the demand poor for all descriptions, sales being difficult to make. Yearlings brought to 24s 6d, fifteen to eighteen months sorts £1 19s, 2i-year steers £4 Is,' 5-year steers £5 19s, dry cows £3 IBs. A mixed lino of fifteen months to 2J-y.car heifers made £2 Bs. Dairy cows were few in number. They met with a poor gale at £3 10s to £7. Ther.2 was a short yarding of pigs. Fata and large stores were in poor demand, but woaners sold very well. BUENSIDE. DUNEDIN, December 29. As is usual during New Year week, small yarding# of cattle, sheep, and pigs were forwarded to-day. Not many buyers were present, and little business was done. Butchers, as a rule, get in their New Year supply at Christmas. Sheep.—92B yarded. Prices were firmer. Best wethers 17s 6d to 19s, extra 235, medium 15a to 16s, inferior I3s 6d to 14s, best ewes 15a to 16s, extra 19s. medium 12s 6d to 13a 6d. Lambs.—469 yarded. On account of the small yarding prices were firmer. Tho quality was good. Best lambs 15s to ICs, extra 17s, medium 15s 6d to 14s 6d, inferior 12s to I'm 9d. Cattle.—lsl yarded, o! medium quality. Prices were again slightly easier. Beat bullocks £8 10s to £9 ss, extra £lO ss, medium £7 to £7 15s. inferior £6 5s to £6 JO*, best cows and hellers £5 lus to £7. medium £5 to £5 10s, inferior £4 to £4 10s. Pigs.—32 yarded. Porkers and haoonera were iu demand, and the few forwardsd. sold under brisk competition, prices going up kd per lb. Young pigs were also wanted, but practically none wer© forward. Very S>w suckers were penned. Suckers 14s to 20b, slips 23a to 265, stores 28s to 35a, porkers 58s to 435. light baconers 45s to 48a, heavy 53s to 60s.
