Tho chairman of tho Hospital Hoard (Hon. C. M. Luke) and tho Medical Superintendent sDi* Ewart) visited all tho patients. Wellington, which is never ungenerous, raised less money this year for tho hospit.il than last, mainly because of the collccr lions recently made for tho tunbulanca -and the efforts of the bands. Still, os Mr Luke -said last night in conversation with a "Times” reporter, the people were very kind. The patients thorough-; ly enjoyed tho festivities, and theauthorities view thorn with great favour, as having a distinctly good effect in cheering side people, and so helping towards their recovery. The little children in tho hospital are always well looked after. J,a*t night nil tho pa-tient-s who could be moved, including tho children, were .assembled together round tho monster Christmas tree, from which nero hung upwards of three hundred, presents. Each- of tho people had one or two tickets, and .there was great merriment over the drawing of the humhors. Ihe function was an eminently snocrßS.mil one, and entirely useful in iia effects, jor it will be a pleasant memory to all who took part.

A Christinas tree and fete at tho Bonn, ot Compassion yesterday proved very enloyablc to all who participated.
