HOSPITAL SATURDAY
CITY AND COUNTRY CANVASSED. ,£llsO IN HAND. PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, November 20. The third annual Hospital Saturday collection was taken, up yesterday. The weather was beautifully fine in the morning, bnt became showery early in the afternoon. Steady rain set in later and continued until well on in the evening. In previous years collectors confined their attention to the city and its suburbs, but this year the movement was extended to the country districts, reaching as far north as Palmerston (41 miles), in the south to Milton (36 miles), and in Central Otago to Mdddlemarch (47 miles). Returns ore not quite complete, bnt the collection so far amounts to £llsO, an increase of £330 on last vear's figures. It is estimated that but for tho rain another £l5O would have boon collected. The money will he allocated to provide medical and other comforts for patients in, Dunedin Hospital and Benevolent Institution, to maintain, improve and develop the St. John Ambulance Society, the Victoria jubilee convalescent fund, the Patients and Prisoners Aid Society and the Karitane Home.
