"THE CLERGY IN POLITICS."
(To the Editor “N.Z. Times.”) Sir,—ln replying to your correespondents “Rationalist” and “Live and Let Live,” it was not my intention to enter into a theological controversy, for probably nothing that might be written would add to theology or bridge the gulf which separates Unitarianism or Rationalism from orthodox Christianity. My only purpose was to remind your correspondents that they were in a minority on the no-license question, and that whilst thinking and reasoning for themselves they must, in fairness, allow those whom they term “fanatics'* also to think and reason for themselves and to act accordingly, especially when to their mind they are acting in the interests of the whole community—which I contend they are in fighting for no-license. Personally, I prefer to be termed a “fanatic” and enjoy the Christian faith than to be otherwise.—l am, etc., HENRY R. PAGE.
