"ABSOLUTELY FALSE CHARGES"
LICENSED VICTUALLERS' REPLY TO PROHIBITIONISTS. PIliiSS ASSOCIATION, i CHRISTCHURCH, November 5. Mr E. Nordon, Secretary of the! Licensed Y'ictuailers’ Association, was, 'seen this morning in reference to ai telegram forwarded by the Rev. L. M., Isitt to the premier, alleging that the ■Postal authorities were being used by the Licensed Victuallers' Association Tor the purpose of keeping back certain printed matter in connection with the local option poll. Hr Nordon .characterised tlio charges in tho telegram as absolutely false and stated .that tiio agreement which ho had made 'with the Postal authorities was lor ‘their assistance and was made quite openly. It was an arrangement, which hud been made for many years past ;and one which prevented the ordinary ’business being dislocated. To post '711,000 circulars altogether on one day would make it impossible for the limited staff of the Post Office to get them out in reasonable time.
