FEEDING OF POULTRY.
A test has been made bv the New York Experimental Station td find out whether poultry would thrive on grain alone. The experiments were made with chickens and ducklings, and proved beyond doubt that for the best, results meat must also be supplied in the way of food. With ducklings in particular it was found that •some form of animal food was essential. The results showed the gain per iiound was .made with less expense with meat than without it. Chickens receiving meat reached 31b weight three weeks before those that were fed without it, and they commenced laying four weeks earlier. A second experiment showed the same results. 'With; regard to the ducklings, the difference between those that received meat and those that were given none was still more pronounced.
