The question of issuing special licenses to Maoris to fish for trout or perch is dealt with in the Fisheries Amendment Bill introduced by the Hon. J. A. Millar. It provides that the Governor may from timc_ to time make regulations under section 83 of the principal Act for the issue to Maoris of licenses to fish for trout and perch at such rate not exceeding five shillings for the whole season ns he may prescribe. If the holder of any such license is convicted of any breach of the pricipal Act, or of any regulation made thereunder, his license may he cancelled by the convicting Court, and he shall not be entitled to a fresh license during the remainder of tile season.
