DOMINION DAY

PRESENTATION OF MEDALS TO CHILDREN. A meeting of head teachers of the Wellington city schools was held yesterday afternoon to consider the best arrangements to b© made in connection with the proposed presentation of Dominion Day medals to tho scholars on the first anniversary of tho proclamation of the Dominion, on the 26th Inst. The meeting was representative of all the schools in Wellington, only one head teacher being absent, and was presided over by Mr Lee, chairman of tho Education Board. Captain T. W. McDonald, representing tho Education Department, was present, and explained the view© of the department regarding the ceremony, which is to take place at 11 o'clock in the forenoon. A committee was set up, consisting of Mis® Hellier (Mount Cook Girls'), and Messrs Foster (Mount Cook Boys') and Webb (Normal School), and will meet at the Education Board office this afternoon to arrange detail© of tho programme to be carried out. His Excellency the Governor is to be asked to be present, and the Premier and members of the Ministry have expressed their intention of attending, while it is expected that members of various local bodies will also be present.
