FERTILE TAURANGA.
REPORT OF DEPARTMENT OF LANDS. Tho Under-Secretary for Lands (Mr W. C. Kensington) in his last annual report, refers to Tauranga County as follows; “As in all parts of the East Coast, land hero is iu groat demand, the dairying industry having proved such a great success. Tho late dry summer has also been a good advertisement for this district, it having withstood tho drought better than ‘the greater portion of the North Island, There have been a lot of inquiries for Crown, lands in To Papa and Apatov parishes. Theso lands have been withdrawn from sale for resurvoying and reading, and when opened will find ready sale. Tito whole of tho county is moving ahead, tho butter factories having done very well for the season, and tho drought and Arcs having done little damage.'’ Thoro is, of course, nothing :n tho nature of a "puff" in tho report. It is not a statement made by any party interested in booming the district—it is simply the. dry. matter of fact report of tho hoad ofi a Government department on a district,which involves ridmiivstration on tho parti of his department. A good dairying dis-l trict, free from drought, and land at a* .reasonable price certainly sounds like on El Dorado for tho dairy farmer and agricnltnrist generally.
