TROUBLE BREWING
IN HOROCCO GERMAN REQUEST FOR A RAID'S RELEASE. MEETS WITH POINTED REFUSAL. Dy Telegraph— Press Association—Copyright. (Received September 11, 0-20 a.m.) LONDON, Septciubor 10. The possibility of serious international trouble arising out of the Moroccan situation is feared, as a result of the action of the German Government in requesting, through its Legation officials at Tangier, that the Moorish Government shall release Knid Ermiki. Ermiki was one of "the first of the Moorish Governors in the northern districts to adopt the cause of Midi Hofed,
Various European Legations have claims for presentment, arising out of robberies and extortions carried on under Ermiki’s authority. His arrest occurred at the instance of Midi Hofcd’s oommandor-in-chief, after the Kaid's proceedings at Laracho had necessitated the intervention of an armed European force. Ermiki’s nephew, a German protege, lias been released, and Germany immediately claimed that the Kaid should ho set free, the German agents showing a list of seven members of his family who were German-protected subjects. Mehedi El Menehhi, ex-Min istor for War, who enjoys British protection and has been selected by Midi Holed to act as intermediary between him and the foreign representatives, replied# that the Kaid was solely a Moorish official, not a protege, and that Germany was over-stojiping her rights in making a demand for Iris reloaso,
The German excuse is that the Raid has served ,Muli Hofed’s interests well.
