KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL

< POBTNIOHTLY MEETING. In the absence of tho Mayor, Councillor Hammond presided over the Karori Borough Council meeting last night. Councillors Lissington, Spiers, Cathie, Wedde, and Smith, were also present. It was decided to erect a shelter-shed ai- the east end of the tunnel, cost not to exceed £3O. Messrs Brandon, Hislop, and Johnston forwarded a copy of the award made by tho arbitrator in the dispute between Messrs McWilliams and Andrews and the Council, over a claim by the former for £lllß 14s lid, balance of a sum due under a contract for road construction. Tho contractors were awarded £330 13s 6d in full satisfaction of all claims, each party to pay its own costs. Messrs Skerrett and Wylie, on behalf of Mrs S. T. Joll, drew attention to daimago done to her Karori property by works being carried out by the Council. Work that was being done to prevent further damage would not, they were informed, have the desired effect. A suggestion was made that the engineer should be authorised to carry out the work on lines agreed upon by him and Mrs Joll.—The Council repudiated' liability over the matter. General accounts passed for payment totalled £621 13s 2d. and loan accounts came to £384 4-3 sd.
