MR CARROLL IN THE NORTH. PBE33 ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, April 5. The Hon. James Carroll will probably remain in Auckland for two or three days, as it is likely that he may yet visit the north of Auckland before ho returns to Wellington. He has been asked to attend a mooting of Maoris in the north for tho purpose of discussing the land question, and wishes to do so, provided suitable dates con be arranged. As regards the Waharoa native meeting. tho chief Taingakawa informed tho Native Minister that they had practically arranged about all their blocks of land, and tho manner in which they are to he out up, and he promised' to submit all the information required by Air Oarroll in duo course, the Minister promising to supply any plans that were wanted. Taingakaavn made it clear that his people wore averse to selling thoir land, as they had not too much, but what they did not require they. wore willing to lease.. They wished tho iaw to help them to improve their estates and better themselves.
