It has now been decided by tho management of the present San. FrafioisCO direct service to oali at Auckland and Apia on the return trip. In this way New Zealand shippers will not only be able to ship direct, but they will also be able to avail themselves of the service for cargo to Apia and to Tonga. MAORI CONFERENCE. AUCKLAND* February 24. Tho Southern and district delegates to the Maori Conference, which is to bo held at Orokei, were welcomed by tho Orakol natives this afternoon. Some fifty delegates are present, and' another party under the Rev, Mr Bennett, of Rotorua, is to arrive at Orokei to-morrow. A MINISTER IN THE SOUTH. DUNEDIN, February 24. Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister of Marino, paid visits to the Nuggets and Kaitangata to-day.
