ONSLOW CATCHMENT AREA
POLL OF RATEPAYERS. THE LOAN APPROVED. The poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Onslow on the proposal of the Council to borrow a sum of .£ISOO for tho purpose -of scouring a catchment area for a future water supply was takcfti yesterday. Thero was considerable interest in tho question, and more than 260 ratepayers out of a roll numbeft* of 53G recorded thoir votes. Tho proposal was carried by 153 votes to 51. Following are the figures for the different polling booths
The/ returning officer (Mr H. Abraham) was able to announce tho result about 7,15 p.m. Tho loan of JMSOO will bo raised, either locally or otherwise, by tho issue of (Ufbentures bearing Interest at the rate of not more than per cent. A sinking fund of 1 per cent, will bo provided, and the whole loan will be repayable in twenty-six years from April let, 1908. The loan will bo secured on a special rata of, Id in tho pound on the unimproved value, levied over tho whole of the defined area.
