KNOWS NOTHING OF ACCOUNTS. (To the Editor "N.Z. Times.") Sir, —Can you or any of your numerous readers inform mo what brunch of learnjug Professor Rossignoi is professor of? From what I hove read in the report of tho Auckland Chamber of Commerce, his pixrfeßsorship surety can't be dn any branch of science which boars on finance or accountancy, because I can scarcely believe that any tradesman, however stupid or ignorant, lot akmo a professor, would ever think of taking a sum of money from his receipts ana putting the Game into bricks and mortar for a building to enable him to increase his business and then at the end of his financial year reckon that tho balance, after paying working expenses, was tho profit on Mb capital. Such a stylo of account keeping would really be too ridiculous, and iA what tho professor is raado to do. I was pleased to see that tho Premier in his usual clear and vigorous style showed the absurdity of the contention in the rejort referred to. —I am, etc., Wellington. Feb. 19. AUDITOR.
