OPERA. HOU-oE, The - Opera House was again crowded last evening to witness Mr Allan Hamilton's Company in “A Message from Mars." The piece went without a hitch from beginning to end, and applause was frequent. Oanthony's popular phantasy will bo played to-night for the last time. To-morrow tho season will bo brought to a close with an interesting revival of Mrs Hodgson Burnett's favourite idyllic play, “Littio Lord Fauntleroy," with Baby Wateon in the title role. The ‘diminutive "star" will be supported by the full strength of the company, including Mr Robert Inman as the Earl of Dorincourt, Miss Khadljnh Cooper as Dearest, Mr Fitzgerald as Mr Hobbs, Mr George E. Bryant at? Mr Havisham, Miss Ends as Minna, and MAs Feasor ae Mary. THEATRE ROYAL. Another crowded audience witnessed last evening’s performance of Pullers' Vaudeville Company at the Theatre Royal. All the performers succeeded in pleasing the audience so soon as they came upon the stage. More encores iibtfuu were granted would have been acceptable, HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Mr Howard Vernon and Company, produced Planquetto's clever and tuneful opera, "Rip Van Winkle" *at His Majesty's Theatre last evening. The company includes singers who have won many well-earned laurels on many stages. Mr Howard Vernon appeared as Rip Van Winkle, Miss . Vima do Loitte as Gretchen, Miss Vance as Derrick Van Stous, and ail were warmly applauded. MISSIONS TO SEAMEN. There was an overflowing audience at the Missions to Seamen s Institute last night, when a capital concert was given by Mr and Mrs C. P. Powles. The following contributed items: MissesHursthonso and Rothchlkl, Messrs H. .Atkinson, Hollis, C. Gore, Tombs, Campbell, and- Sewell. Mr Moore, the Missioner, gave an address on- temperance, and several pledgee were taken. "BLUEBELL IN FAIRYLAND.” Pollard's Juvenile Opera Company will open a season at the Opera House nest Saturday evening in "Bluebell in Fairyland.” Tho bos plan is at tho Dresden rooms.
Among the passengers from England by tho lonic yesterday vms Miss Marion Hall, comedienne 1 and character serio artiisto. Miss Hall has appeared at fourteen of the principal London music halls and figured ne the original ’Arriet in Geo. Conquest's famous drama “Tho Work Girl." Miss Hall’s comedy sketch “A Guilty Pair” has ’“starred” at a number of tho English provincial music halls. Miss Hall brings with her all the latest ©crag successes from London and New York.’ A sale of work in connection with St. John’s Presbyterian Church will be opened at 3 o’clock this afternoon by Mr J. O. W. Aitken. M.P., in the Dixon street Hall. The proceeds will he in aid of the Turn kina Maori Girls’ School and tlm Mount Conk buildm" fund. There will be a number of side-shows. A fe+p is to be held in the Assembly Hall, Island Hay, to-day. from 3 to 10 p.m., to raise firndq to extinguish the debt on the Island Pav Anglican churchroom. There will be a sale of work and entertainment by PTofestsor Rockford, ventriloquist. and others.
