BRITISH GENERAL’S STATUE DEFACED.

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright BOMBAY, December 3. Some miscreant defaced General Nicholson’s statue at Delhi.

General John Nicholson was bom at Dublin on December 11th, 1822, entered the service of the East India Company at the age of seventeen, and in 1840 was ordered to Afghanistan, where he was imprisoned two years later. Ho took part in the Sikh ware of 1815 and 1818, and in the Indian Mutiny of 1857, in which year he died, on September 23rd.
