THE GAMING BILL.

PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, November 7. Tho Temperance and Public Morals Committee of the New Zealand Methodist Church having considered the Gaming and Lotteries Bill resolved — "That this committee strongly approves the provisions of the Tsill for the suppression of gaming houses and for prohibition of wagering in a public street or on sports grounds and in factories. Notwithstanding the late period of the session, the committee trusts tho Government will this >rar press on such legislation with all. tho force at it* command. The committee, however, regrets that the Government proposes to continue to legalise tho totalizator and to derive State income therefrom, and regards such action, together with tho proposal to license bookmakers on *oce* courses, as a national sanction uf evil, tho extreme gravity of which is proved by the present-drastic propokils of ths Prime Minister.”
