PBES3 ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, April 8. The Citv Electrical Engineer and Tramways Traffic Superintendent have been authorised to proceed to Auckland in connection with tho tramways arbitration case to bo heard there. Mr W . Scott (representing the employers), and Mr K. Breen (representing the workers) will appear in tht dispute. The Town Clerk has been instructed to negotiate terms with the SurveyorGeneral for a standard survey of the alignments of the streets of the city of Dunedin, the cost to the Council not to exceed £BOO. Mr E. Breen received word to-day that the Otago Slaughtermen’s Union of Workers has been registered under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act._ Th© city tramway receipts continue to go up. The traffic returns for tho fortnight ended March 30th last, as compared with tho corresponding period for last year, were as follow: —Receipts (1907) £2171, mileage 41,414; receipts (1906) £1899, mileage 43,422. Tho City Council is likely to undertake its own insurances, including guarantee, accident, and fire insurances and superannuation.
