Davies has accepted tbo appointment as acting-director of tho dental school in connection with Otago University, At tho Baptist Tabernacle, Auckland, on Wednesday, tho Rev. A. J. Reed, late of Rotorua, was married to Julia,, oldest daughter of Air T. E. Carter,‘ of Auckland. Dr G. Eastgato Alirams, who recently came out from London to Sydney as' surgeon on the steamer Somerset, was a passenger to Wellington by tho Warrinco. It is Dr Alirams’ intention' to shortly commence practice in the Lower and Upper Hutt districts. Another old colonist, ox-Inspcclor James, passed over to the great major, ity at Wanganui on Wednesday. For a number of years lie was Inspector of Police at Wanganui, Subsequent to his retirement he resided in Palmerston' North, retiring to spend tho evening of life in Wanganui. He was an, old AVost Coaster, and an enthusiastic horticulturist. Tho following appointments hav« been mado by the Wellington Education Board; —Miss I. Alerlot, now at Kohinui, to bo solo teacher at Ponatahi; Aliss E. AAModward, now at Alata. hiwi, to bo first assistant at Alitehelltown; Aliss B. Chapman to be sola teacher at AVharcamu; Aliss E. Silvester, junior assistant at Shannon, to ho Urst assistant at tho same school. At St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral on Thursday afternoon, Miss Brenda Hacon, only daughter ot Dr Hacon, of Christchurch, was married to Air diaries B. Pharazyn, of Wellington, son of tho late Air Charles Pharazyn, one of the pioneer settlers of AVellingtou. Tho bride, who was given away 1 by her uncle. Air G, F. C. Camp, boil (tho A r aluer-Geueral), was attended by Aliss Lucy Brandon, Aliss Phyllis Higgmson, tho Alisscs Pharazyn (2), and Joseph. Air Harry Pharazyn, cf . Hawke’s Bay (brother of the bridegroom) was best man, and the groomsman was Air Robert Turnbull. Tho ceremony was performed by tho Rev. . Air Robinson. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of Aliss Partridge, in Hill street, where tho guests were ■ received by Airs Hacon. Among a handsome lot of presents was one from Sir John Logan Campbell, of Auckland.
