LABOURERS' WAGES.

PRESS ASSOCIATION. NELSON, April 4. The Conciliation Board has just filed an award in the Labourers’ Union's demands, virtually retaining! the standard wage at 8s per day, but differentiating between 8s and 7s within and without a radius of ten miles of the city. This differentiation eeriouslv affects the Wairaea County Council, which pays on a 7s a day basis throughout, ns its hands outside tho radius are sure to ask for the same rate as those within it. The Council to-day decided to refer the matter to the Arbitration Court. Other employers, principally local bodies and contractors, will probably do likewise.
