The A. and A. cargo steamer Wimbledon, from New York, which arrived at Wellington-on Saturday morning t berthed at No. 16, Jervoig quay. Heavy weather negatived an attempt an the part of the Queen of the South to work Terawhiti yesterday morning. The Union Company's steamer Waikai£ sailed from Sydney late bn Saturday’ night for Wellington. The vessel will not arrive here till about midnight on Wednesday. The Union Company's collier Rosamond, duo thks morning from Westport, ie to lay up at Wellington for a few days for survey purposes. Mr J, Davidson Frew, second officer of the Penguin, is to transfer to- the Pateena to-day in place of Mr Roberts, wlio will join the Penguin. Tho steamer Rakiura (Rose Casey), as she is now called, is rapidly assuming a ship-shapo condition again under the supervision of Messrs Stevenson and Cooke, of Dunedin, and is expected to bo ready to. leave the Otago port about the end of this week. .It is understood she will bo engaged in the South Coast trade. News hae been received at Whangarei that a quantity of wreckage, almost certainly part of the Htiddart-Parker steam-, er Eliingamite, wrecked about four -years ago, has been washed ashore near ParcugaTonga. Included in the wreckage were a bundle of oars lashed together and a large section of decking fastened by iron bands.
