In his "Eamblings of -an Old-Mum-mer." in New York “Dramatic Mirror/’ Russell Cranford; tells a Rood story of the drama in Greenock: (Scotland), which id as follows:—"Sometimes a wanderinß star from Glasgow or Edinburgh was 1 engaged in Greenock for the Saturday night, and the prices of admission were regulated accordance to the magnitude of the planet. A gentleman came to play Hamlet and at the close of the performance, as two canny Scotsmen were descending the gallery staircase, the following dialogue took place: 'Well, and what do you think o’ him., Archy?' 'Eh, he’s no' bad/’ replied Arctiy-j ‘but he’s no' a saxpeuny Hamlet.” ‘ . ’ Mr Harry Fragson has received an offer from Colonel Maplcson to appear in grand opera during the coming season. Mr Fragson was .intended for the part of Don Jose in “Carmen," and was to oiag in French, at the presentation of the opera in Paris. 1 Mr Fragson, however, is already engaged to appear at Drury Lane, London, and to return to variety after the Drury Lane pantomime.
