HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. Tho Hutt County Council met yesterday. Present—Messrs IT Bould (chairman), J. Wakeham. M. W. Welch, Wl Galloway, E. T. Moore, J. Whiteman, T. N. Robinson, senr., and M. J, Lynch. Tho engineer (Mr A. W. Newton) reported that in the Wainui-o-mata riding tho metalling of tho rifle range road had been completed, and tho timber Sat the renewal of thy bridge on tho Main read had been ordered. In the Epuni riding the motalfcng of Cottle’s read at Belmont was almost completed. In th* Mungarea riding, Collins road had been finished, and the only settler on tints road had the novel sensation of a formed road to drive upon. In the Porirua riding the Paparangi and Porirua metalling grants proceed to a slow completion. In the Horokiwi riding tha formation of Harris road, and of tha Moonshine-Uppor road was completed, and that of the Mooushino-Wliakatilii was well in hand. In the Wharoroai riding tho bridge over tho Woratoki stream at PaokakariM Had been completed, Mr Cudby having carried out an excellent contract. Unless very good prices were offered by tho tenderers for the purchase of tho stone-breaking plant, the engineer advised its offer to the RangiUikei County Council before ao, ceptanoe of any tender. Mr C. X. Price waited on the. Council and urged the construction of a bridge over the Akatarawa river, towards which ho was willing to contribute £SOO. The Council agreed to vote £IOO towards the work.

An application from Allondor and Co. to establish and carry on bone and manure works, etc._ at Ngahauranga, was deferred until next meeting for further information, and for tho Health Officer's approval. Mr J. T. Kent inquired whether th« ranger for Horowhenua had power te impound cattle wandering on county v roads under the Hutt Council’s jurisdiction.—No instruction to this effect had been given by the Council. Mr J. J. Robinson was granted a renewal of Ms slaughtering license. Tho Council decided to jpve noticai of tho striking of a Id rate over the whfyle county for tho year I9OG-7. Accounts to the amount of £1254 8s 2d were passed for payment. '
