MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

THURSDAY, MAY 31. (Before Dr A. McArthur, S.M.) ■Four first-offenders were convicted of .drunkenness. Two were discharged, and tho other two each fined sb, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment: Frederick William Beale, arrested on warrant, was charged with failing to obey three orders of the Court requiring him to pay 20s a week towards Iris wife’s maintenance, and 7s 6d a week each towards tho support of his two children. Mr .Headman, for accused, pleaded in extenuation that the man had been out of employment. Accused was remanded until to-day. CIVIL BUSINESS. Judgment was given for plaintiffs by default in the following cases;—lsbister and 00. v. William McColl, £8 10s, costs £1 7s: Janies Reid v. Henry Withers and Alfred Frederick Gahh, £OO 11s 9d, costs £6 13s, against Withers; Georgp Henry Jackson v. Henry Withers, £46, costs £3 7s 6d; Tavlor, Ramsay and Co. v. Annie McLauohlan, £5 4s, possession of tenement, costs £1 8s Cd. In tiro judgment summons case Kirkcaldio and Stains, Ltd., v. William Drummond, a debt of £ls 12s 4d, debtor was ordered to pay a balance of £lO 12s 4d forthwith.
