THE UNEAIPLOYBD. QUESTION TO BE DEALT WITH. (Received Slay 31, 10.38 p.m.) LONDON, May 31. Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, in reply to a memorial from one hundred and fifteen Labour and Liberal members, announced that ho would deal with the unemployed question after the Whitsuntide recess. This would enable 'tlie distress committees during the winter to fulfil their responsibilities. THE POSTAL CONFERENCE. CONCESSIONS TO BRITAIN. . LONDON. May 30. In the House of Commons, Mr Buxton, Postmaster-General, stated that he was glad to announce that Britain had succeeded at the Postal Conference in obtaining two considerable concessions. Tho first obtained consisted of two additional votes, and the second concession was the doubling of the weight of foreign letters, which now readied one ounce. This also embraces letters under the Imperial penny post-. Foreign letters would bo three-halfpence for each additional ounce. The charges become operative in 1907. AN OBJECTION. LONDON, May 30. Tho Church Association wrote to Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, stating that the presence of the Prince and Princess of Wale® at Princess Ena’s marriage, and assisting in tho celebration of Mass was a most dangerous departure from constitutional usage.
