ELECTRIC LIGHT AND POWER
PRESS ASSOCIATION. TTMARU, March 12. The Timani Borough Council to-night adopted tho report of a committee recommending the acceptance of an offer by Mo&srs Scott Bros., of Christchurch, to instal an electric plant for street lighting and tho supply of light and power to private consumers. The basis of agreement with the Council is for tho company to supply five 1000 candle-power, twenty 000, and two hundred and ten 30 candle-power street lights for £750 a year (average four and a half hours per night), any increase to be supplied pro rata; private supplies to bo made through the Council at not exceeding Is per unit for lighting, and 4d for power; tho company’s profits to be limited to 10 per cent.; the Council to have the right to purchase at any time, with a diminishing percentage addition on cost, from 10 per cent, for tho first ten years; at twonty-ono years the whole street plant to become tho property of tho Council without payment.
